School of Continuing Education is the management department of the university’s continuing education work. Relying on the university’s strength and resources, the school provides training of all kinds of professionals for the society, and is an important platform of the university to serve the community.

Since 1958, the university has been organizing adult higher education, in accordance with the general requirements of national education development, and has followed the principle of academic continuing education in the new era which is to “focus on characteristics, control the scale, and guarantee the quality”. The school continuously strengthens the content development, and gradually produces an academic continuing education training mode with rich forms of schooling. At present, there are over 20 programs open for registration in continuing education. During the development of over 60 years, the school has trained tens of thousands of professionals working at all walks of life for the society, and has been awarded as “National Advanced Organization for Enrollment Work of Adult Higher Education”, “Hennan Advanced Education Organization”, “Henan Advanced Organization for Student Work of Adult Higher Education” and other honorary titles. It has successfully passed the assessment of adult higher education pilot organized by Henan Department of Education.

The non-degree continuing education of HNU is oriented to serving the major strategic needs of the country as well as local economic and social development. Based on the university’s strength in teacher education, the school provides training for workforce at all levels and in all walks of life. The school is a national training base for the Ministry of Education’s “National Training Program” for outstanding principals of primary and secondary schools, a demonstration unit of the Ministry of Education’s “National Training Program”, and a qualified organization of the Central and Western Project. It is the training center of higher education teachers in Henan Province, the training base for the principal qualification and improvement of primary and secondary schools and kindergartens in Henan Province, the base for continuing education of professional and technical personnel in Henan Province, the project office of cultivating distinguished teachers in Henan Province, and the project office of overseas training for outstanding teachers in primary and secondary schools and universities in Henan Province. With the support of the university’s strong academic and educational resources, it has trained a large number of professionals at all levels for local governments, basic education industry, enterprises and public institutions, and earned a wide and good social reputation.
